The temple, built in the 17th century, is a place to show the cultural interference between the Vietnamese and the Chinese and is a spiritual support for fishermen before each trip to sea. According to legend, Master Sai Nai, who was a talented Chinese geographer, thought that Phu Quy island was a spiritual area on an occasion when he stopped by a boat to rest, so he wanted to be buried here when he died. After his death, it took 6 days and 6 nights for the Chinese boats to arrive on the island and bury him at night so no one knew. The next day, people on the island went to work and discovered incense lamps at the grave area (Dong Hai village, Long Hai commune) but no people were found.
