The reason for the name Hon Tranh is because in the past, there were a lot of thatched grass, local people often came here to cut and make thatch roofs. Hon Tranh has an area of ​​2.7 km2, with mysterious and quite "cool" terrain here, so Hon Tranh was once chosen by King Gia Long as a refuge when being pursued by the Tay Son army.

On Hon Tranh, there is Tran Bac Temple, worshiping Duke Bui Huy Ich. This is a good general, lost on the way to protect Nguyen Anh. Coincidentally, there used to be 77 Ca Ong washed ashore here. So next to Tran Bac Temple, there is also Van worshiping Nam Hai god. This place is very sacred and also shows a part of the beliefs of fishermen for generations.
