Located in Tanh Linh district and a part of Tanh Linh district, being of Binh Thuan province and bordering on Dong Nai province is Bien Lac Lake. It was called Bien Lac Lake because the lake was so large that people thought the beach had lost in the forest. In 1877, when Nguyen Thong carried out the investigation on Tanh Linh forest and mountains, he saw this lake and called it “Lac Hai”.

 The lake is in the middle of the 1,000 hectares old forest. In rainy seasons, this lake is full of water and three times wider than usual. It means that the lake area is up to 3,000 hectares. Surrounding the lake is forest and mountains. The East has Ca Tong Mountain which is 506 meters high loftily as being challenging with heaven and earth.

The old forest has a lot of valuable woods such as: kingwood, barian kingwood, amboyna wood, etc... and so many species of forest orchids. Currently, these forests of Bien Lac together with Nui Ong’s old forests make up a natural reserve zone to protect and bring up the rare vegetation and animals. In the old forest near Bien Lac, there is a beautiful waterfall named Ba waterfall .This scenery combined with Bien Lac become an attractive tourism destination to visit in the forests and mountains region in the south-west of Binh Thuan. 

  Bien Lac has a large amount of fishes and so many rare birds such as: pheasants, peacocks, etc.... These flocks of birds nest, live, and increase in the primeval forests surrounding the lake.Bien Lac is an interesting address for picnic, travelling, and observation as tourists can sit on boats and feel with the vast nature, water, and sky.

Surrounding the lake is primeval forest and the vast rubber tree forest. The ecosystem here is so abundant. According to the local people, there’s so many high economic value species of fishes in the lake such as: snake-head, carp, etc..., and animal species such as: python, tortoise, snake, etc.... There are also many water trees, so they attract many species of birds come to nest and live by the plentiful foods from fishes in the lake.

    Bien Lac Lake is large. In flooding seasons, the lake area is three times bigger than usual. The area of surface water is large, so Bien Lac has become a favorable place for local people to catch fishes. On the lake, there is always people netting, and fishing. That is how people working, producing, and developing their household economy. When the source of fishes is exhausted, people find out the way to raise fishes by the float cages. The roofs overflow on water surface is so strange.

When Bien Lac Lake has no wind, the surface of the lake is quiet and peaceful. The clouds and water are blended with each other making tourists’ souls dazed. This is absolutely an interesting place for outdoor and discovering tours. Not only sitting on the boats among the vast water and sky with the huge mountains and forests, but also visitors can enjoy the specialties from the lake right on the floating fish farms. Tourists also can go fishing themselves and grill the caught fishes on the charcoal stove, enjoying their achievements right on the boat.
