Phan Thiet city was colorful with thousands of lanterns in the Mid-Autumn festival 2018 - (26/09/2018)

(Muinetourism.vn).- On the night of September 21st (August 12nd in the lunar calendar), at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square – Phan Thiet city – Binh Thuan Province, the Mid-autumn festival 2018 was officially taken place with thousands of colorful lanterns. Attended to the festival, there were Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung – the provincial party committee secretary, representatives of local authorities, Director of Binh Thuan Department of culture, sports and tourism and other relevant sectors. The festival also attracted thousands of locals and tourists all over the places to come and enjoy.

The festival has the theme is that “Phan Thiet’s children -enjoying the Mid-autumn festival – hard study – creative amusement – following Uncle Ho’s words”. With that theme, the lanterns this year was designed according to the meaning of honoring Party, beloved Uncle Ho, funny images of school age, typical images of Phan Thiet….in addition, there were many lanterns which was designed to promote tourism like seafood, dragon fruit, Cham tower, ceramic vase, mushroom…

Joining the lantern parade of the Mid-Autumn festival, there were 31 big lanterns of 18 wards, communes, primary schools and secondary schools in Phan Thiet city with 2.8000 students. According to Mr. Vo Van Thong, vice-chairman of Phan Thiet people’s committee, head of organization department, most of the schools in Phan Thiet city took part in the lantern parade of the festival, each school had around 80 to 100  small lanterns and big lanterns.

Right after the art perfomaces to welcome the Mid-autumn festival, Mr. Vo Van Thong – Vice-chairman of Phan Thiet people’s committee read the letter of national president  to the children on the occasion of Mid-Autumn festival and announced to open the festival. On this occasion, local leader also gave gifts to children of Phan Thiet city who took part in the parade.

The Mid-Autumn festival 2018 was at least 2.000 meter long throughout the main streets in Phan Thiet city with the stretch of road of 4.000 meters. It created a marvelous and colorful night for the city. The fascinating and attractive features also were in the strange shapes of thousands of lanterns that children was holding in their hands. As usal, every year, there will be the prizes for the small and big lanterns which are the most unique and special in the festival.

The Mid-Autumn festival is a interesting traditional feature, received many concerns of domestic and international tourists. It has been listed among Binh Thuan’s 6 traditional cultural festivals for tourism development.
